The Standard Audit File for Tax (SAF-T) is an international standard for the electronic exchange of accounting data between taxpayers and tax authorities. In Romania, the implementation of SAF-T began in January 2022, and it is mandatory for large taxpayers to submit SAF-T through the D406 informative declaration. They will be followed by medium-sized taxpayers in 2023 and small taxpayers in 2025.
